.It all starts with an interview with Tom Jobim inside the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, more specifically in front of the famous Vitória Régias lake. That was several decades ago... On that occasion Tom spoke about his great fascination with the Vitória Régia plant. This interview has always remained in the mind of designer Leonardo Lattavo, who was still a child at the time. Since then, this awakened in him a peculiar curiosity about the Vitória Régias to the point that, many years later, he considered them a genuine source of inspiration. The designers at Lattoog, like good locals, bossa nova fans and residents neighboring the famous lake, bring here a new piece that pays homage and recognizes the influence they had from Tom Jobim. The Tom modular sofa makes direct reference to the iconographic circular-shaped aquatic plant, originally from the Amazon region. Its modules come in perfectly round or oblong geometries with subtractions that allow for fittings between pieces. Six different seat modules and three table modules make up the set. Like the plant, its charm and sculptural value is given by the random grouping of its round volumes of different sizes. This strategy of bringing together different modules brings a series of situations conducive to comfort and pleasant coexistence with different ergonomics, sizes and functions that transform the space of the house into a clear analogy to the landscape of the lakes inhabited by Vitória Régias. Surrender to the Tom sofa and its loose, light and laid-back compositions, just like our Bossa Nova.
