Designer
Janete
Costa
More than 3,000 projects in her portfolio, awards, and curator of various exhibitions inside and outside of Brazil. This is just a part of the legacy left by the architect from Pernambuco, Janete Costa (1932 – 2008). With a keen and unbiased eye, she shone a light on Brazilian craftsmanship, putting it on an equal footing with works by renowned artists. Her work was greatly influenced by craftsmanship, including the furniture and objects she developed for her interior design projects. Her children Lúcia Santos, Mário Santos, and Roberta Borsoi, along with the Alagoan designer Rodrigo Ambrosio and Donaflor Mobilia, have revived some of the architect's creations and are re-editing them with small updates, thanks to resources that Janete did not have at the time. “Janete, a Brazilian Designer,” as the theme itself says, showcases the designer side of this professional. A woman ahead of her time.
