The artisanal culture and the richness of the land that mark the rich Brazilian handicrafts inspire the second edition of the Varanda project, by DonaFlor Mobília, conceived by the trio of creatives formed by architect Juliana Pippi, designer and curator of brand Mila Rodrigues products and also by designer and director of the company Marcelo Yamasita. The paths revealed by ancient knowledge and practices, which transform clay into ceramics, for example, also guided the concept of the brand's 2021 Collection.

This year, DonaFlor Mobília brings pieces marked by earthy tones and hollow plots, which refer to the millenary repertoire of manual crafts. Rejane Carvalho Leite, Sérgio Matos and Daniela Ferro, long-time partners of the company, sign furniture 2021, alongside Eduardo Borém, who debuts on the DonaFlor Mobília team of employees.

Borém signs the Vanuíre line, inspired by a tale that has the Indian woman of the same name as the protagonist. The furniture was conceived as an invitation to conversation and sharing, in order to enable different forms of encounters and exchanges, bringing elements of the dual Kaingang mythology: "Kairu", everything related to circular motifs, and "Kamé", everything that relates to linear motifs.

The Tiê line, conceived by Daniela Ferro in partnership with a community of ceramists, is an ode to ceramist techniques. The pieces innovate by developing a technique for applying ceramics to outdoor furniture, carrying the emotion of handcrafting by the hands of potters, who also gave shapes to sconces, flower boxes and bases for side tables, combined with aluminum.

Another launch where the ceramic trait is distinguished is the Argila table, a collab between the trio and designer Carolina Peraça, responsible for making, one by one, the high temperature ceramic pieces, inlaid on the top like jewels.

The leaked plots, so present in Brazilian manual knowledge, appear in the Ara Orgânico rug, signed by Mila Rodrigues, in the Itapoã chair with curved back, by Rejane Carvalho Leite, and in the sculptural Manta Negra armchair, by Sérgio Matos. Rejane also signs the Colibri bar-cart and the Aerada armchairs. “While Sérgio's armchair has generous shapes, Rejane's is more compact. Both, however, were designed to give the feeling of an embrace, a demonstration of affection that is so lacking in these times of social isolation," says Mila.

Scheduled for release on September 1st, the new pieces can also be seen at 10 DonaFlor Mobília resales, which participate in Varanda Argila.
