Lands of Brazil have great power. Power of transformation, creation, enchantment and inspiration. These are lands where nature emerges magnanimous, culture pulsates, and where remarkable brilliant minds bubble and sprout from the ground.
Janete Costa was living proof of this idea when, by valuing popular culture, she became one of the key figures of her generation in the formation of a modern Brazilian architectural identity.
Owner of a keen eye for local crafts, the architect from Pernambuco built during her life a legacy of valuing what is inherent in our lands, which was – and is – recognized worldwide. Therefore, thinking about the importance and weight of its name for national architecture, DonaFlor Mobília is now launching reinterpretations of iconic pieces signed by the artist.

In partnership with creative director Rodrigo Ambrosio and Janete's family – architect Cláudia Costa (in memory), gallerist Lúcia Costa, architect Mário Costa and architect Roberta Borsoi – the brand produced four furniture items made from rescues of the architect's creations, where small adjustments were made with resources that the creative did not have at the time.

The collection, first and foremost, is an invitation to well-being and the lightness that reflects the joy of being Brazilian, and includes pieces such as: the Claudia Armchair, with an aluminum structure and nautical rope covering; the Chaise Lúcia, also structured in aluminum and covered in nautical rope; and the Rio bench and coffee table, both made from Cumaru wood.

In the original versions, the furniture was produced in Reed, a natural material that brings lightness and a certain breath to the environments in which it is inserted. To re-edit the freshness brought by the element, the brand decided to work with a nautical rope with more open weaves so that there would be a similarity of sensations.
